Mexico’s Automotive Momentum in 2025: Beyond Tariffs

Throughout 2024, Mexico maintained its position as one of the world’s leading suppliers to the automotive industry. Thanks to its strategic location, highly skilled workforce, and strong trade agreements, the country continues to stand out as one of the top producers and exporters of vehicles. Supported by data from INEGI and the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA), let’s take a closer look at how this sector is evolving:

  • Strategic location: Proximity to the United States, its main trading partner.
  • Skilled workforce: Technicians and engineers specialized in automotive manufacturing.
  • Trade agreements: USMCA and treaties with more than 40 countries that facilitate exports.

For 2025, the trend in this sector remains very similar to that of the previous year, despite the heavy tariff burden currently affecting trade with its main partner, the United States.

This firmly places Mexico on the global map — strengthening its economy and sustaining a workforce of approximately 1 million direct and 3.5 million indirect jobs.

The complexity of operations and tariff mechanisms in Mexico can be challenging. Yet, when businesses move forward alongside strategic allies in tax, financial, labor, transfer pricing, and foreign trade matters, every step becomes clearer and more secure.
