On May 22, 2026, the Ministry of Economy, through SNICE, published a frequently asked questions document regarding the new Automatic Notice for Aluminum Products (AAA), which will become mandatory for certain aluminum product imports as of May 25, 2026.

1. Immediate Issuance of the AAA

The AAA resolution is generated automatically through VUCEM and may be downloaded immediately once the application is submitted using the electronic signature.

2. Documentation

It is not mandatory to attach documents when processing the notice; however, the platform allows supporting documentation to be attached optionally.

3. Information Required in the Product Description

The product description must be submitted in Spanish and include, among other details: type of aluminum, dimensions, type of coating, finish, and integrated accessories.

4. Application per Tariff Classification and Specific Product

The AAA must be processed for each tariff classification and for each product with specific characteristics.

The permit code to be declared in the pedimento will be AL, pursuant to Appendix 9 of Annex 22 of the Foreign Trade General Rules.

6. Validity of the Notice

The AAA will remain valid for four months from the date of issuance.

7. Use of the Same AAA in Multiple Transactions

The same notice may be used in multiple transactions provided that it remains valid, has sufficient balance available, and the goods maintain the same characteristics and unit price.

8. Effective Date

Although the agreement enters into force on May 25, 2026, applications could begin to be submitted as of May 18, 2026, in order to facilitate scheduled import operations.

9. Corrections to the AAA

The information contained in the notice cannot be modified. If any information is incorrect, the notice must be canceled and a new one requested.

Additional Information Required

The document also clarifies concepts related to country of smelting, second country of smelting, country of casting, country of origin, and exporting country.

Likewise, it is stated that the declared information may be supported through documentation issued by the companies involved in the smelting and casting processes, in order to ensure traceability of the goods.

Recommendation

Importing companies are advised to review in advance the tariff classifications subject to the notice, the traceability of imported aluminum, the supporting documentation related to smelting and casting, and the proper completion of information in VUCEM, in order to avoid delays or contingencies during customs clearance.
